Finding for a boudoir photographer can be a pain-in-the-ass. Seriously. You need to find a photographer whose style you love, that offers the right type of service and products for you, and that you can trust and feel comfortable with. Having a good relationship with your photographer is SO important, it really is. But sometimes it can be so hard to know if that photographer is the right photographer for you. So, instead of just telling you how beautiful and amazing each of my clients are (they really are though! They are incredible women, all of them) I decided to start asking them some questions about what it was like to work with me and how they felt before, during, and after their photoshoots.
So let me introduce you to Mrs. P. ♥
I have had the pleasure of photographing her before as part of a impromptu-model-mini-shoot-thing before (she is not a professional model, even though she looks like one!) but she recently turned 30 and decided to come into my new studio for a second photo shoot- this time she got the whole experience; a pre-shoot questionnaire/consultation, professional hair and makeup, Banfield donuts and a fruit tray at her shoot to snack from, a 2 hour photoshoot in my gorgeous studio, and a Reveal Session with printed proofs and help ordering products to fit her needs… and we even had mimosas!! It was so fun and her photographs are stunning!
Mrs. P loves pinup so we incorporate that pinup-y vibe into her shoot with her styling. Her amazing hair and makeup artist was Morgan Scheer, owner of Tulips Hair and Makeup. After consulting with Mrs. P and Morgan before her shoot we decided to go with a cat eye – classic red lip combo for her makeup and a retro-inspired curl and style to her hair. Mrs. P also brought an adorable dress that her husband bought for her and the perfect lingerie set from Fredericks of Hollywood to complete her style.
Keep reading to hear from Mrs. P about her boudoir experience.
Why did you decide to have a boudoir photo shoot?
I was turning 30 and I wanted a fun way to start this new chapter in my life.
How did you feel after your photo shoot?
Amazing and a little sore. It was so much fun and made me feel so beautiful. It was a pretty good workout too!
Did you enjoy having a Reveal Session instead of having your photographs posted in an online gallery?
Yes. It was nice to see them all laid out. You made the environment feel fun and exciting. It was another experience to make you feel special.
How did you feel when you saw your photographs for the first time at your Reveal Session?
It was such a great feeling. It made me remember all the poses I did and how much fun that day was. I was shocked at how beautiful they looked since I don’t typically look that way, all made up.
How do you look in your photographs from your photo shoot compared to how you normally look in photos?
I feel like I look completely different! I typically never have lipstick on, let alone red, so that was a fun change. Also, just the way I was holding my body is completely different from how I would typically sit. The poses were way more flattering.
What was your favorite part about your boudoir experience?
I’m not sure I have a favorite, the entire day and experience was so amazing.
What would you tell other women that are considering doing a boudoir shoot?
They should just go for it. It’s their photo shoot so they should do what makes them feel beautiful and comfortable. Don’t try to copy someone else’s photo shoot.
